Oak Lake Baptist Church Choir presents Christmas Cantata 2006 – He Came To Us

Singers!!

The choir has officially begun working on the Christmas Cantata for 2006! If you are a choir member that has gone astray or someone that would like to become a member, WE NEED YOU!! The choir practices on Wednesday evenings @ 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons @ 4:45 p.m. Come be a part of this very special presentation

Starting on September 17th we will begin a new Sunday night program for the teenagers of Oak Lake Baptist Church. “Life”, is an evangelistic program designed to be an inviting atmosphere for teens to bring their friends. Our activities will include music, games, prizes and competitions, but the most important part of what we want to do is preach the gospel. The messages will be directed toward salvation in unique ways that will be welcomed by the unsaved while being fully applicable to all areas of a teenager’s life. The teens will be divided into teams to compete for a chance to have a reduced price for a trip at the end of the program in December. The way to earn the most points for their team is to invite their friends to attend. So, we encourage parents to help their teens by reminding them to invite friends and to bring your teens to church on Sunday nights. We ask you to please be in prayer for our youth so that they may be bold in this new school year to invite their friends to church, and we also ask that if you would like to help financially with our reward at the end of our campaign, to please mark your offering envelopes, “Youth Trip”. Thank you so much for your prayer and support!

Our last WMD will be at Incredible Pizza this Wednesday @ 11:00 a.m. We will meet there at Incredible Pizza instead of the church. Hope to see you there!

Be Strong and Courageous

This was the theme for this years VBS! The children learned what it was to be strong and courageous through many different object lessons and illusions and through learning Joshua 1:9! David Hill and volunteers from the Children’s Ministry at Metropolitan Baptist Church came and taught the children and many were saved. Their favorite parts were: the big balloon that Pastor Gene fit 15 kids in not including himself, the new music that they learned and all of the motions to each one, and the various illusions and illustrations that were used to give the gospel message!  It was a great week of VBS!
